ALL SAINTS KEMBLE NOTICES SUNDAY

6th FEBRUARY 2022

To remind you all of the latest Covid regulations.

Mask wearing is now optional in church.

Sanitiser is provided for those who wish to use it.

When sharing the Peace, you may wave, shake hands or hug if you wish – but please be mindful of those who do not wish

to relax the regulations quite so fast. I will continue to wear my mask during the service, but I will remove it to sing.

We have an area of the church where those who are happy to NOT be socially distanced can sit closer together which

is here on the left side of the church at the front.

Today’s Holy Communion Service is led by Liz Collins, where she will take communion whilst all other communicants

will have wafer only.  Next Sunday 13 February will be The Source at 10.00am, the new name for the Family Service,

and on the third Sunday 20 February, we will have a Communion Service led by Trevor. By then he will be updating us

on if and how we might all take bread and wine, or stay with just wafer for the time being. All our services in Kemble

remain at 10.00am and will be streamed.

We have Little Fishes tomorrow at 2pm in the Village Hall, and Open the Book on Thursday morning in the Primary School.

There is also a midweek group for prayer and bible study at Kemble House at 7.00 pm. Zoom home group takes place on

Thursday at 7.30 pm. Please pray for these activities.

Celebration of

Holy Communion by Extension

  Ordinary Time

Welcome to worship

Leader:   O Lord open our lips

All:   and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Hymn:   834 Will you come and follow me

Will you come and follow me

If I but call your name?

Will you go where you dont know

And never be the same?

Will you let My love be shown,

Will you let My name be known,

Will you let My life be grown in you,

And you in Me?

Will you leave yourself behind

If I but call your name?

Will you care for cruel and kind

And never be the same?

Will you risk the hostile stare,

Should your life attract or scare?

Will you let Me answer prayer

In you and you in Me?

Will you let the blinded see

If I but call your name?

Will you set the prisoners free

And never be the same?

Will you kiss the leper clean,

And do such as this unseen,

And admit to what I mean

In you and you in Me?

Will you love the you you hide

If I but call your name?

Will you quell the fear inside

And never be the same?

Will you use the faith youve found

To reshape the world around,

Through My sight and touch and

sound

In you and you in Me?

Lord, Your summons echoes true

When You but call my name.

Let me turn and follow You

And never be the same.

In Your company Ill go

Where Your love and footsteps show;

Thus Ill move and live and grow

In You and You in me.

All:  To live together in unity.

All:  These stones would shout aloud.

Leader:   O Lord open our lips

All:   and our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Confession

The grace of God has dawned upon the world with healing for all.

Let us come to him, in sorrow for our sins, seeking healing and salvation.  c/f Titus2:11

Leader:  Holy God, maker of all

All:  Have mercy on us.

Jesus Christ, servant of the poor

All:  Have mercy on us.

  Holy Spirit, Breath of life.

All:  Have mercy on us.

Let us in silence confess our faults and admit our frailty.

Silence

All:  Before God, with the people of God,

  We confess to our brokenness:

To the ways we wound our lives,

  The lives of others,

And the life of the world.

Leader:  May God forgive us all, Christ renew us all,

And the Spirit of God enable us to grow in love.

All:  Amen.

The Collect

O God,

you know us to be set

in the midst of so many and great dangers,

that by reason of the frailty of our nature

we cannot always stand upright:

grant to us such strength and protection

as may support us in all dangers

and carry us through all temptations;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.

1 Corinthians 15 v 1 11  ©NRSV

15 Now I should remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, 2 through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to youunless you have come to believe in vain.

3 For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4 and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to someone untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace towards me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of themthough it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. 11 Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you have come to believe.

This is the word of the Lord.

All:   Thanks be to God.

Hymn: 382 Jesus Christ is waiting

Jesus Christ is waiting, waiting in the streets;

No one is His neighbour, all alone He eats.

Listen, Lord Jesus, I am lonely too:

Make me, friend or stranger, fit to wait on You.

Jesus Christ is raging, raging in the streets,

Where injustice spirals and real hope retreats.

Listen, Lord Jesus, I am angry too:

In the kingdom's causes, let me rage with You.

Jesus Christ is healing, healing in the streets,

Curing those who suffer, touching those He greets.

Listen, Lord Jesus, I have pity too:

Let my care be active, healing just like You.

Jesus Christ is dancing, dancing in the streets,

Where each sign of hatred He, with love, defeats.

Listen, Lord Jesus, I should triumph too:

Where good conquers evil, let me dance with You.

Jesus Christ is calling, calling in the streets:

'Who will join My journey? I will guide their feet.'

Listen, Lord Jesus, let my fears be few:

Walk one step before me; I will follow You.

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to N.

All:   Glory to you, O Lord.

Luke 5:1-11  ©NRSV

5 Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, 2 he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch. 5 Simon answered, Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets. 6 When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. 7 So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus knees, saying, Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man! 9 For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people. 11 When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.

This is the Gospel of the Lord.

All:     Praise to you, O Christ.

Sermon

The Creed

Let us declare our faith in God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

All:  We believe in God the Father,

  from whom every family

in heaven and on earth is named.

We believe in God the Son,

who lives in our hearts through faith,

and fills us with his love.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit,

    who strengthens us

    with power from on high.

    We believe in one God;

    Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

    Amen.

Prayers

The Peace               To crown all things there must be love,

To bind all together and complete the whole.

Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts.                        cf Col 3: 14

The peace of the Lord be always with you

All:   and also with you.

Hymn:   463 Lord Jesus Christ

Lord Jesus Christ,

You have come to us,

You are one with us,

Marys son.

Cleansing our souls from all their sin,

Pouring Your love and goodness in;

Jesus, our love for You we sing,

Living Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ,

Now and every day,

Teach us how to pray,

Son of God.

You have commanded us to do

This in remembrance, Lord, of You:

Into our lives Your power breaks through,

Living Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ,

You have come to us,

Born as one of us,

Marys son.

Led out to die on Calvary,

Risen from death to set us free,

Living Lord Jesus, help us see

You are Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ,

I would come to You,

Live my life for You,

Son of God.

All Your commands I  know are true,

Your many gifts will make me new,

Into my life  Your power breaks through,

Living Lord.

The Communion

All   Blessed are you,

God of those who hunger and thirst,

for you give us our food in due season.

You nourish us with your word,

which is the bread of life.

You strengthen us with your Spirit,

the new wine of your Kingdom.

In Christ you are food for the hungry,

  refreshment for the weary.

Blessed are you, our Creator and Redeemer.

  Blessed be God for ever.

The Lords Prayer

As our Saviour taught us, so we pray:

All   Our Father in heaven,

  hallowed be your name,

  your kingdom come,

  your will be done,

  on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

  Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

  Lead us not into temptation

  but deliver us from evil.

  For the kingdom, the power,

  and the glory are yours

  now and for ever.

  Amen.

Giving of Communion

The minister moves to the Holy Table and says

The Church of God, of which we are members, has taken bread and wine and given thanks over them according to our Lords command.

These holy gifts are now offered to us that, with faith and thanksgiving, we may share in the communion of the body and blood of Christ.

Silence is kept.

Draw near with faith.

Receive the body of our Lord Jesus Christ

which he gave for you,

and his blood which he shed for you.

Eat and drink in remembrance that he died for you,

and feed on him in your hearts

by faith with thanksgiving.

All  We do not presume

to come to this your table, merciful Lord,

  trusting in our own righteousness,

but in your manifold and great mercies.

  We are not worthy

so much as to gather up the crumbs under     your table.

But you are the same Lord

whose nature is always to have mercy.

Grant us therefore, gracious Lord,

so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood,

that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body and our souls washed through his most precious blood,

and that we may evermore dwell in him and he in us.

Amen.

Music plays as the people share in Holy Communion.

The minister and people receive communion, first the wafer and then the wine (unless only shared in one kind). Please follow the directions given in your church.

Authorized words of distribution are used

The body of Christ keep you in eternal life  All: Amen.

The blood of Christ keep you in eternal life.  All: Amen.

During the distribution hymns and anthems may be sung.

Prayer after Communion

Silence is kept.

Lord God our Father,

through our Saviour Jesus Christ

you have assured your children of eternal life

and in baptism have made us one with him:

deliver us from the death of sin

and raise us to new life in your love,

in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,

by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

All  Almighty God,

we thank you for feeding us

with the body and blood of your Son Jesus  Christ.

Through him we offer you our souls and bodies

  to be a living sacrifice.

Send us out in the power of your Spirit

to live and work to your praise and glory.

  Amen.

Hymn: 337  I, the Lord of sea and sky

I, the Lord of sea and sky,

I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in deepest sin

My hand will save.

I who made the stars of night,

I will make their darkness bright.

Who will bear my light to them?

Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord?

I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go Lord, if you lead me.

I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,

I have borne my people's pain.

I have wept for love of them.

They turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone,

Give them hearts for love alone.

I will speak my word to them,

Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord?

I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go Lord, if you lead me.

I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame,

I will tend the poor and lame.

I will set a feast for them.

My hand will save.

Finest bread I will provide

Till their hearts be satisfied.

I will give my life to them.

Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord?

I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go Lord, if you lead me.

I will hold your people in my heart.

Blessing

Go with confidence into the days ahead,

trusting in Gods unfailing love and faithfulness.

God will not abandon us, for we are the work of   His hands His own creation- and His love endures   for ever.

All:  Filled with the Spirits power,

We go in the light and peace of Christ.
