A time for reflection and confession:
Leader: The saints were faithful unto death And now dwell in the heavenly kingdom forever As we celebrate their joy, Let us bring to the Lord our sins and weaknesses, And ask for his mercy.
Leader: O God of life, grant us your forgiveness All: For our careless thoughts, For our thoughtless deeds For our empty speech And the words with which we wounded.
Leader: O God of life, grant us your forgiveness, All: For our false desires, And our hateful actions, For our wastefulness And for all we left untended.
Leader: O loving Christ, Hanged on a tree yet risen in the morning, Scatter the sin from our souls as the mist from the hills; begin what we do, inform what we say, redeem who we are. All: In you we place our hope, Our great hope, our living hope, This day and evermore. Amen.
Collect Prayer:
God of holiness, Your glory is proclaimed in every age: As we rejoice in the faith of your saints, Inspire us to follow their example With boldness and joy; Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Reading : Daniel 7:1-3, 15-18
Affirmation of faith
Leader: Let us affirm our faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God All: Though he was divine, He did not cling to equality with God, But made himself nothing. Taking the form of a slave, He was born in human likeness. He humbled himself And was obedient to death, Even the death of the cross. Therefore God has raised him on high, And given him the name above every name: That at the name of Jesus Every knee should bow, And every voice proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Amen. cf Phil 2 : 6-11
Reading: Ephesians 1:1-end
Reflection from the Vicarage Now let us pray together Time to Pray (Prayers led by Judith Cutler)
We say the Lord’s Prayer together Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, Give us today our daily bread, Forgive us our sins, As we forgive those who sin against us, Save us in the time of trial And deliver us from evil, For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, Now and forever. Amen.
Ending: Leader: Lift up your heads, O gates; Be lifted up, you everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in. “who is the King of glory?” “The Lord, strong and mighty, The Lord who is mighty in battle.”
Lift up your heads, O gates; Be lifted up, you everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in. “Who is this King of glory?” The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.”
Blessing: May God, Who has given you in the lives of the saints Patterns of holy living and victorious dying, Strengthen you to follow them in the way of holiness. Amen.
May God, who kindled the fire of his love in the hearts of the saints, pour upon you the riches of his grace. Amen.
May God, who calls you no longer strangers and aliens But fellow-citizens with all the saints, Bring you to your home in heaven, Amen. cf Col1:12 Eph 1:17,18; 2:14 and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. All Amen.
All: We go into the world to walk in God’s light, To rejoice in God’s love and to reflect God’s glory. Amen.
