Sunday 7th June 2020 10am – Trinity Sunday

A Service of the Word.

This is the day that the Lord has made.

Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

We have come together remotely in the name of Christ

To offer our praise and thanksgiving,

To hear and receive God’s holy word,

To pray for the needs of the world,

And to seek the forgiveness of our sins,

That by the power of the Holy Spirit

We may give ourselves to the service of God.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty

Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee

Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful and mighty

God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

Holy, Holy, Holy, all the saints adore Thee,

Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea

Cherabim and Seraphim falling down before Thee

Which wert and art and evermore shalt be.

Holy, Holy, Holy, though the darkness hide Thee,

Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see

Only Thou art Holy, there is none beside Thee

Perfect in power in love and purity.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,

All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea

Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful and mighty

God in three persons blessed Trinity.

In a week when our attention has been drawn to our attitude to those who are different from us, in the light of God’s word, let us in the silence examine ourselves before God .

‘If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us, but if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ 1 John 1:8,9.

A period of silence.

Lord our God,

In our sin we have avoided your call

Our love for you is like a morning cloud

Like the dew that goes away early

Have mercy on us

Deliver us from judgement

Bind up our wounds and revive us

In Jesus Christ our Lord.

May the Father forgive us

By the death of his Son

And Strengthen us

To live in the power of the Spirit

All our days. Amen.

Introduction  - John Veira

Psalm 1 (NIV)

Blessed is the man

Who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,

Or stand in the way of sinners

Or sit in the seat of mockers.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord

And on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water

Which yields its fruit in season

And whose leaf does not wither

Whatever he does prospers.

Not so the wicked!

They are like chaff

That the wind blows away

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgement

Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous

But the way of the wicked will perish.

Exodus 3:1-6 & 13-15 (NIV)

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire, it did not burn up. So Moses thought, ‘I will go over and see this strange sight – why the bush does not burn up.’

When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ And Moses said ‘Here I am’.

‘Do not come any closer’ God said, ‘Take off your sandals for the place where you are standing is holy ground’. Then he said, ‘I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob’. At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Moses said to God, ‘Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you and they ask me , ‘What is his name?’ ‘Then what shall I tell them?’

God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM, this is what you are to say to the Israelites. I AM has sent me to you’. God also said to Moses, ‘Say to the Israelites, ‘THE LORD, the God of your fathers – the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob – has sent me to you. This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation’.

Give thanks with a grateful heart

Give thanks to the Holy One

Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.

Give thanks with a grateful heart,

Give thanks to the Holy One,

Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son.

And now let the weak say ‘I am strong!’

Let the poor say, ‘I am rich!

Because of what the Lord has done for us’

Give thanks.

Prayers written by Ben Fudge

Our Father who art in heaven,

Hallowed be Thy name,

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil,

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,

For ever and ever, Amen.

Give thanks to the Lord our God and king

His love endures forever

For He is good, He is above all things,

His love endures forever

Sing praise, sing praise.

With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm

His love endures forever

For the life that’s been reborn

His  love endures forever.

Sing praise, sing praise.

Forever God is faithful, forever God is strong

Forever God is with us, forever, forever.

From the rising to the setting sun

His love endures forever

And by the grace of God we will carry on

His love endures forever

Sing praise, Sing praise

Sing Praise, Sing Praise

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Love of God and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all Amen!
