A time for reflection and confession:
Leader: In baptism we died with Christ, So that as Christ was raised from the dead, We might walk in newness of life. Let us receive new life in him As we confess our sin in penitence and faith c f Romans 6:4 All: Like Mary at the empty tomb, We fail to grasp the wonder of your presence. Leader: Lord, have mercy; All: Christ, have mercy.
All: Like the disciples behind locked doors, We are afraid to be seen as your followers. Leader: Lord, have mercy; All: Christ, have mercy.
All: Like Thomas in the upper room, We are slow to believe. Leader: Lord, have mercy; All: Christ, have mercy.
Leader: May the God of love and power Forgive you and free you from your sins, Heal and strengthen you by his Spirit, And raise you to new life in Christ our Lord. Amen.
Collect Prayer:
Risen Christ, For whom no door is locked, no entrance barred; Open the doors of our hearts, That we may seek the good of others And walk the joyful road of sacrifice and peace, To the praise of God the Father. Amen.
Reading : Acts 4:32-35 © NRSV The Believers Share Their Possessions
32 Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. 33 With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. 34 There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. 35 They laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.
HYMN:
Jesus stand among us At the meeting of our lives; Be our sweet agreement At the meeting of our eyes.
O Jesus, we love You, so we gather here; Join our hearts in unity and take away our fear.
So to You we're gathering Out of each and every land; Christ the love between us At the joining of our hands. O Jesus, we love You, so we gather here; Join our hearts in unity and take away our fear.

Reading: John 20:19-31 ©The Message To Believe
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia, Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life’. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’ Alleluia. John 11: 25-26
19-20 Later on that day, the disciples had gathered together, but, fearful of the Jews, had locked all the doors in the house. Jesus entered, stood among them, and said, “Peace to you.” Then he showed them his hands and side.
20-21 The disciples, seeing the Master with their own eyes, were awestruck. Jesus repeated his greeting: “Peace to you. Just as the Father sent me, I send you.”
22-23 Then he took a deep breath and breathed into them. “Receive the Holy Spirit,” he said. “If you forgive someone’s sins, they’re gone for good. If you don’t forgive sins, what are you going to do with them?”
24-25 But Thomas, sometimes called the Twin, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples told him, “We saw the Master.”
But he said, “Unless I see the nail holes in his hands, put my finger in the nail holes, and stick my hand in his side, I won’t believe it.”
26 Eight days later, his disciples were again in the room. This time Thomas was with them. Jesus came through the locked doors, stood among them, and said, “Peace to you.”
27 Then he focused his attention on Thomas. “Take your finger and examine my hands. Take your hand and stick it in my side. Don’t be unbelieving. Believe.”
28 Thomas said, “My Master! My God!”
29 Jesus said, “So, you believe because you’ve seen with your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing.”
30-31 Jesus provided far more God-revealing signs than are written down in this book. These are written down so you will believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and in the act of believing, have real and eternal life in the way he personally revealed it.
Reflection from the Rectory Let us pray….
Affirmation of faith
All: We believe in God above us, Maker and sustainer of all life, Of sun and moon, Of male and female.
We believe in God beside us, Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, Born of a woman, servant of the poor, Tortured and nailed to a tree.
A man of sorrows, he died forsaken. He descended into the earth To the place of death.
On the third day he rose from the tomb. He ascended into heaven To be everywhere present, And his kingdom will come on earth.
We believe in God within us, The Holy Spirit of Pentecostal fire, Life-giving breath of the church, Spirit of healing and forgiveness, Source of resurrection and of eternal life. Amen.
Now let us pray together
We say the Lord’s Prayer together Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, Give us today our daily bread, Forgive us our sins, As we forgive those who sin against us, Save us in the time of trial And deliver us from evil, For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, Now and forever. Amen.
Ending: Leader: This is love, not that we loved God, All: but that he loved us and sent his son.
He is the sacrifice for our sins, All: that we might live through him.
If God loves us so much All: We ought to love one another.
If we love one another, All: God lives in us. cf 1 John 4: 12
Blessing:
May Christ, Who out of defeat brings new hope and a new future, Fill you with his new life; And the blessing of God almighty, The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Be with you and remain with you always, Amen.
All: We go into the world to walk in God’s light, To rejoice in God’s love and to reflect God’s glory. Amen.
